Travel to the classical city of Metropolis, founded between the 3rd and 1st century BC during the Hellenistic period, and abandoned after the 15th-century Turkish conquest. You’ll hear that the city was first studied through archaeological field work in 1972 and has been under excavation since 1989. Journey to Claros, much like Delphi and Didyma an important prophetic center and site of remains of a Temple of Apollo, the only Doric-style temple built in Ionia. At the end of the tour, guests will be dropped off in town, as the buses are not allowed to return them to the cruise ship terminal parking lot. There will be a short walk from the drop-off point in town back to the Kusadasi Terminal building.
